Hydrographer/Geophysicist

Location: Remote

Salary: $95,000–$130,000 annually plus equity; San Francisco and New York are at the high end of the band.

What you will do

• Process and analyze MBES, SSS, magnetometer, and sub-bottom profiler data using commercial software.
• Provide rapid, iterative feedback on data quality and investigate artifacts, anomalies, and their causes.
• Create data products and reports for commercial clients and serve as the primary contact for data quality, interpretation, and deliverables.
• Teach customers how to interpret AUV data, including its value, limitations, trade-offs, and uncertainty.
• Contribute to ocean-data accuracy and uncertainty standards, policy, and guidelines.
• Collaborate with product and engineering on vehicle improvements, survey planning, and scalable processing workflows.

Requirements

• Experience processing and reporting on at least two of MBES, SSS, magnetometer, and sub-bottom profiler data using commercial software.
• Working knowledge of ArcGIS, QGIS, and/or AutoCAD.
• Experience writing data reports for commercial clients and communicating clearly with customers.
• Strong attention to detail, curiosity, fast learning, and a problem-solving approach to data processing.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and occasional nights and weekends during survey campaigns.
• Willingness to use AI and other tools to improve speed, accuracy, and leverage.

Nice to have

• Experience with all four sensor types and light coding in Python or SQL.
• Offshore experience with ship or AUV operations.
• Certified Hydrographer, Category A or B, or Licensed Surveyor credentials.
• Experience in defense, energy, or environmental surveys.
