Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer

Location: 100% remote within the United States; candidates from California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington will not be considered. The posting also lists Manhattan, Kansas. Occasional travel may be required.

U.S. citizenship is required. Candidates must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI), Level 4, and meet government security investigation requirements.

What you will do

• Implement and test cryptographic algorithms using Python, C++, and Java.
• Advise on quantum-resistant algorithm migration plans and post-quantum cryptography implementation strategies.
• Assess organizational cryptographic inventories and identify migration priorities.
• Communicate quantum risk to non-technical leadership and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Provide policy and guidance inputs for cryptographic modernization aligned with NIST PQC standards, including FIPS 203, 204, and 205.

Requirements

• 10+ years of IT experience, including 5 years in quantum computing and cryptography within a large corporation or government agency; a related master’s degree may substitute for up to 2 years.
• Expertise in quantum mechanics, quantum algorithms such as Shor’s and Grover’s algorithms, and quantum information theory.
• Expertise with Qiskit, Cirq, Quipper, Microsoft Quantum Development Kit, and classical and quantum simulation tools.
• Expertise in post-quantum cryptography, quantum-resistant algorithms, and cryptographic standards such as NIST and ISO/IEC 19790.
• Experience with project management or project-oriented work and configuration management in large organizations.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility for Public Trust (MBI) clearance are mandatory.

Nice to have

• Certification in IAT III, IAM III, or IASAE III.
• Military or veteran experience.
