Quantum Cryptography Lead Architect (Post-Quantum Cryptography)

Location: Lisboa, Portugal. Flexible hybrid work model with 8–10 in-office days per month.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain the enterprise Quantum Safe Architecture Strategy and define target-state architectures for Post-Quantum Cryptography adoption.
• Establish cryptographic modernization, crypto-agility, standards, controls, and multi-year migration roadmaps.
• Lead enterprise cryptographic inventory, discovery, risk assessment, and quantum-readiness initiatives, including assessment of Harvest Now, Decrypt Later threats.
• Design hybrid classical/PQC deployment and transition models, including compensating measures for legacy systems.
• Provide security architecture input to major programmes and influence global security standards across hirify.global markets and platforms.
• Assess suppliers, platforms, and vendor roadmaps while collaborating with Cyber Security, Networks, Digital & IT, Procurement, Assurance, and technology partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
• 10+ years of experience in security architecture or cryptography.
• Deep knowledge of PKI, TLS/SSL, VPN technologies, identity and access management, key management systems, network security, and cloud security architectures.
• Experience designing enterprise-scale security transformations and working with architecture, engineering, delivery, and operations teams.
• Ability to influence senior technology and business stakeholders and work with global vendors and complex technology ecosystems.
• Fluent English required.

Nice to have

• Direct experience with PQC or crypto-agility initiatives, cryptographic inventories, and cryptographic risk assessments.
• Knowledge of RSA, ECC, Diffie-Hellman, ECDH, ECDSA, NIST PQC algorithms, hybrid cryptographic architectures, certificate and key lifecycle management, and PKI modernization.
• Experience in telecommunications, critical infrastructure, financial services, government, or defence.
• Participation in industry standards or working groups.
• Expertise in secure software development, cloud-native security, Zero Trust architecture, and secure communications protocols.
