Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer

Location: 100% remote within the United States; candidates from California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington will not be considered.

U.S. citizenship is required. Candidates must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI), Level 4 security clearance.

What you will do

• Implement and test cryptographic algorithms using Python, C++, and Java.
• Develop quantum-resistant algorithm migration plans and post-quantum cryptography implementation strategies.
• Assess cryptographic inventories and identify migration priorities.
• Communicate quantum-related risks to non-technical leadership and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Provide policy and technical guidance for cryptographic modernization aligned with NIST PQC standards, including FIPS 203, 204, and 205.
• Support project-oriented work and configuration management within a large government or corporate environment.

Requirements

• 10+ years of IT experience, including 5 years in quantum computing and cryptography.
• Expertise in quantum mechanics, quantum algorithms such as Shor’s and Grover’s algorithms, and quantum information theory.
• Expertise with Qiskit, Cirq, Quipper, Microsoft Quantum Development Kit, and classical and quantum simulation tools.
• Expertise in post-quantum cryptography, quantum-resistant algorithms, and cryptographic standards such as NIST and ISO/IEC 19790.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; a related master’s degree may substitute for up to 2 years of required experience.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Public Trust (MBI) security clearance are required. Occasional travel may be required.

Nice to have

• Certifications such as IAT III, IAM III, or IASAE III.
