Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer

Location: 100% remote within the United States; candidates from California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, or Washington will not be considered. Occasional travel may be required.

What you will do

• Implement and test cryptographic algorithms using Python, C++, and Java.
• Develop and advise on quantum-resistant algorithm migration plans and post-quantum cryptography implementation strategies.
• Assess organizational cryptographic inventories and identify migration priorities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate quantum risk to non-technical leadership.
• Provide policy and guidance input for cryptographic modernization aligned with NIST PQC standards, including FIPS 203, 204, and 205.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI), Level 4, and pass the applicable government investigation.
• 10+ years of IT experience, including at least 5 years in quantum computing and cryptography; a related master's degree may substitute for up to 2 years.
• Expertise in quantum mechanics, quantum algorithms such as Shor's and Grover's algorithms, quantum information theory, post-quantum cryptography, and quantum-resistant algorithms.
• Expertise with Qiskit, Cirq, Quipper, Microsoft Quantum Development Kit, cryptographic standards such as NIST and ISO/IEC 19790, and classical and quantum simulation tools.
• Experience with project management or project-oriented work, including configuration management in a large corporation or government agency.

Nice to have

• IAT III, IAM III, or IASAE III certification.
• Experience supporting large government agencies or corporations comparable in size and scope to the GSA, IRS, DoD, or VA.
