Staff Applications Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States; up to 20% travel to customer facilities and trade shows.

Salary: $165,000–$199,000 per year.

What you will do

• Guide technical customers through the use and integration of communication hardware and software products.
• Author application notes, user manuals, white papers, diagrams, and other technical documentation.
• Transfer customer feedback to product development teams and help shape the product roadmap.
• Build long-term relationships with technical customers and provide technical leadership to the Business Development Team.
• Rapidly understand, reproduce, troubleshoot, and solve customer-reported electronics and software anomalies.
• Support customer facilities, laboratories, trade shows, and in-orbit applications.

Requirements

• Must satisfy U.S. space technology export-control requirements as a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee, refugee, or person eligible to obtain the required U.S. authorizations.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience in technical product development or application support.
• In-depth knowledge of RF electronics, communication systems, and link budgets.
• Experience with FPGA and embedded software for software-defined radio applications.
• Software proficiency in C, C++, or Python.
• Exceptional technical communication, customer relationship-building, and methodical electronics and software troubleshooting skills.

Nice to have

• Public technical communication samples such as application notes or user manuals.
• Experience with high-reliability electronics, aerospace, or small satellites.
• Experience in technical product planning, marketing, sales, or customer-focused proposal solutions.
