Software Development Technical Team Lead (Java)

Location: Hybrid work based in the downtown Toronto office, with 3 days per week onsite

What you will do

• Lead, coach, mentor, hire, and support the professional development of software developers.
• Contribute hands-on to technical design, coding, code reviews, and architectural decisions.
• Own feature specifications and technical designs from concept through implementation.
• Coordinate product lifecycle activities with engineering, product management, architecture, and other Tech Leads.
• Drive delivery commitments, backlog health, team productivity, quality, stability, extensibility, and reusability.
• Apply AI tools across analysis, development, code review, testing, documentation, and other SDLC phases while maintaining established quality controls.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software development experience, including 5+ years of development experience and 2+ years in a team lead role.
• 5+ years of experience with cloud-native or API-centric applications.
• Strong object-oriented programming experience and a bachelor's degree in computer science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Java, SQL Server, Vue.js, Angular, JSF, RESTful APIs, microservices, containers, Kubernetes, Terraform, Spring Boot, and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with testing, ORMs, database profiling and tuning, and application vulnerability remediation.
• Fluent Spanish and English are required. Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills are also required.

Nice to have

• Financial services or wealth management experience.
• Experience migrating monoliths to microservice or cloud-centric architectures.
• Experience with .NET, C#, and Angular.
