Senior Software Engineer, Fullstack (AI)

Location: Permanent remote setup; working hours may need to overlap with US time zones. Up to 10% travel is required for team collaboration, customer engagements, and company events, including an annual offsite typically held in Mexico. Hiring is subject to the company's list of acceptable working locations.

Salary: €95,000–€110,000 annually in Ireland, or €6,000+ gross per month in Bulgaria, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Own customer-facing search features and workflows across frontend and backend systems from planning through production.
• Build AI-powered product experiences, including the services behind them and interfaces that make their outputs useful and trustworthy.
• Develop responsive Vue interfaces and contribute to Python and Django services.
• Design and improve search, indexing, retrieval, and data workflows using Elasticsearch, Kafka, Celery, and MySQL.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering to shape solutions and deliver customer experiences.
• Troubleshoot production issues, improve reliability and observability, and participate in on-call and incident response.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and maintaining production software.
• Strong experience across frontend and backend systems with independent delivery across the application stack.
• Proficiency with Python or a similar language and Django or a comparable web framework.
• Experience building maintainable user-facing applications with Vue.js or another modern JavaScript framework, including TypeScript in a large codebase.
• Experience with Elasticsearch or comparable search technology, data-intensive systems, production troubleshooting, and reliability improvements.
• Flexibility to adjust working hours for overlap with teammates in US time zones.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka, relational databases, Celery, search and information-retrieval features, or high-traffic SaaS systems.
• Experience building and evaluating customer-facing features backed by LLMs or other AI models.
• Experience improving frontend architecture, performance, design systems, or complex customer-facing workflows.
• Interest in journalism, news, media, or social media.
