Senior Backend Engineer, Product (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid, with 3 days per week in the New York City office

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 base annually, plus equity and benefits

hirify.global builds financial products and services in partnership with major brands, including public APIs, embedded SDKs, customer management dashboards, and banking integrations.

What you will do

• Build, scale, and evolve data models, services, and systems powering customer-facing APIs.
• Design and ship backend functionality for financial products, including Bill Switch, tax products, customer dashboards, and API versions.
• Build and improve integrations with banking platform partners.
• Maintain and improve the Python-based microservice stack and clean up legacy code.
• Understand customer needs and design systems that solve them.
• Create engineering standards and tooling while mentoring other engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and maintaining backend or full-stack applications.
• Strong experience with data modeling, application logic, and API design.
• Deep expertise with modern backend languages or frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, Rails, or Gin.
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React or Vue.
• Experience working at an early-stage startup or small technology company.
• Experience contributing to projects involving multiple teams and engineers, with a strong focus on technical quality and responsible AI use.
