Senior Software Engineer, Card Authorization (Fintech)

Location: Remote within the United States, Canada (Ontario or British Columbia), the Netherlands, Poland, or the Czech Republic. Visa sponsorship or assistance is not available.

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 annual US salary, plus equity.

Provides a card issuing and processing platform with developer APIs, direct network connections, authorization infrastructure, fraud tooling, and reconciliation for financial companies.

What you will do

• Build reliable, secure, and scalable real-time card authorization and fraud-prevention systems.
• Develop customer-facing features including rules improvements, velocity controls, 3D Secure flows, fraud tooling, and transaction monitoring.
• Own projects end-to-end, from planning through launch.
• Improve system reliability, reduce technical debt, and participate in the on-call rotation.
• Lead improvements to systems and processes within the team.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience building production backend systems.
• Experience with or interest in learning Rust, plus the ability to work with systems written in Python and Java.
• Interest or experience in payments, fintech, or fraud prevention.
• Experience designing systems from scratch and owning product development end-to-end.
• Strong written communication skills and experience working in a remote, async-first team across time zones.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, align different perspectives, and drive practical solutions.
