Engineering Manager (Infrastructure)

Location: Remote within the United States; San Francisco, California, and New York City are listed for location-based compensation, and finalists may be invited to the San Francisco office for onsite interviews.

Salary: $157,600–$267,000 per year in most remote locations; $197,000–$267,000 in San Francisco and New York City. Full-time positions are also eligible for equity, 401(k), health benefits, and other benefits.

What you will do

• Lead and support a team of engineers responsible for infrastructure, developer experience, frontend infrastructure, design systems, and security.
• Mentor engineers, manage performance, support career development, and assign work aligned with individual strengths and goals.
• Prioritize technical and resourcing challenges, maintain the team backlog, and establish short- and long-term goals.
• Work with engineering, operations, customers, and other stakeholders to coordinate complex technical execution and dependencies.
• Shape engineering practices, technology choices, architecture, and the broader technology stack.
• Grow the team thoughtfully and prepare its systems and processes for accelerated company growth.

Requirements

• At least two years of experience in an official engineering management role, including at least one year managing a remote team.
• Experience managing engineer performance, growing teams, and owning recruiting processes.
• Experience delivering complex technical features involving external dependencies or stakeholders.
• Ability to diagnose team dynamics and improve morale, execution, inclusion, and collaboration.
• Strong technical background with the ability to participate in technical design discussions and represent team technology.
• Thoughtful approach to using AI tools in engineering workflows and mitigating their risks.

Nice to have

• Experience managing teams working with Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Vue, Terraform, Docker, AWS, ECS, AWS CodeDeploy, Honeycomb, and Postgres.
