TL;DR
Engineering Operations Leader (AI): Building and running the operating system of a large engineering organization with an accent on leadership cadence, OKR and QBR management, decision tracking, and executive synthesis. Focus on identifying ownerless cross-team work, coordinating complex initiatives through influence, and handing projects off to permanent owners.
Location: Portugal, remote; engineering leadership works across European and US hours.
Salary: €7,700–€8,800 gross per month

What you will do
- Run the engineering leadership cadence, including director-level syncs, agendas, documented decisions, and follow-through.
- Own the quarterly OKR and QBR cycle, including objective tracking, reviews, status updates, and escalation of slippage.
- Maintain a live record of leadership decisions and commitments and drive them to closure.
- Identify stalled or ownerless cross-team initiatives, establish accountable owners, and reactivate blocked work.
- Coordinate special projects such as organizational models, data-team ownership, security consulting, AI-agent programs, technical audits, and tool pilots.
- Prepare concise, decision-ready materials for the CTO, executive team, and board-level audiences.
Requirements
- Senior experience running the operating system of an engineering organization, such as engineering operations leadership or TPM leadership.
- Experience coordinating ambiguous, multi-team initiatives through influence without direct authority.
- Strong executive synthesis, written communication, operating discipline, and follow-up management.
- Ability to work effectively with engineers, engineering managers, and directors without owning architecture or technical strategy.
- Fluent English at C1+ level and fluent Russian required for internal and external technical communications.
- Experience with engineering organizations of 100+ people, automation or AI tooling, and preferably procurement, vendor contracting, or budgeting.
Nice to have
- Prior Chief of Staff, Engineering Operations, or TPM-lead experience reporting into engineering leadership.
- Nonprofit technology or payments-domain familiarity.
- Experience with Node.js, NestJS, React, MongoDB, ClickHouse, Kafka, Cloudflare, PCI DSS, SOC 2, or ISO 27001.
