Senior Principal Software Developer, IT/OT (MES & Factory Systems) (Python/Django, MES, AI/ML): Designing and governing distributed manufacturing software that connects MES platforms with SCADA, ERP, PLM, and industrial automation systems with an accent on high-throughput data pipelines, edge-to-cloud integration, and production reliability. Focus on building AI/ML-driven quality analytics, modernizing legacy OT systems, and ensuring deterministic, fault-tolerant operation in 24x7 factory environments.

What you will do
- Design and implement distributed software systems supporting manufacturing operations, including high-throughput, low-latency data acquisition and processing pipelines.
- Develop backend services, APIs, middleware, and integration layers primarily with Python and Django.
- Own the MES platform and its integrations with SCADA, ERP, PLM, SPC, and industrial protocols including OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, and SECS/GEM.
- Build AI/ML-driven features for predictive quality analytics, anomaly detection, process optimization, diagnostics, and decision support.
- Establish CI/CD, testing, observability, high availability, disaster recovery, and deployment standards for industrial software.
- Lead architecture reviews, legacy OT modernization, production incident RCA, CAPA, platform upgrades, and technical coordination across Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Infrastructure, and vendors.
Requirements
- Expert-level Python, production Django, and SQL skills, including complex queries, CTEs, temporary tables, and performance tuning.
- 6+ years of software development experience, including 5+ years supporting factory systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on MES, SPC, SCADA, manufacturing integration, and production support experience in high-availability 24x7 environments.
- Experience with AI/ML programming, manufacturing analytics, LLM or AI APIs, prompt engineering, and responsible AI or data governance practices.
- Knowledge of Vue 3 with Quasar, REST APIs, Docker, Azure, IIS, Infrastructure-as-Code, and industrial communication protocols.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent qualification, plus strong systems thinking, documentation, communication, and incident-response skills.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Flask and SQLAlchemy.
- Experience in semiconductor, battery, automotive, or discrete manufacturing.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.
- Experience troubleshooting Siemens OpsCenter and SCADA systems.
