Staff Software Engineer, Security Engineering (AI)

Location: Remote; any location in Canada

Salary: $176,000–$226,000/year in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario; $158,400–$208,400/year in other Canadian locations

What you will do

• Build and ship product improvements for hirify.global Control in collaboration with Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Own the technical vision, architecture, and expansion of backend systems powering hirify.global Control and other security products.
• Design, implement, and maintain distributed systems, cloud-based services, APIs, and third-party integrations.
• Raise standards for code quality, testing, code reviews, reliability, and AI-assisted engineering workflows.
• Guide engineers through architectural trade-offs, provide code reviews, and share technical knowledge.

Requirements

• Must be located in Canada; the role is remote.
• Proven experience designing and building distributed systems and cloud-based services in production.
• Technical leadership experience, including influencing architecture, setting standards, and enabling other engineers.
• Strong proficiency with AI workflows and Python/FastAPI, TypeScript/Node, or a similar modern backend stack.
• Hands-on experience designing, implementing, maintaining, and integrating APIs.
• Strong understanding of security concepts and practices, with practical communication and problem-solving skills.

• Experience with React.
