Upholstery Designer - Next Home

Location: Hybrid, typically 3 days in the office, with core hours flexible between 8am and 6pm. Leicester Head Office facilities are referenced.

What you will do

• Create original upholstery concepts, including sofas and accent chairs, from trend research and sketches through final sample approval.
• Research interior trends and develop innovative fabric selections, frame silhouettes, comfort details, and sustainable material options.
• Produce technical specification packs, scaled CADs, and design instructions covering frame dimensions, foam densities, seams, and fabric applications.
• Collaborate with Buying, Merchandising, Technology, and external manufacturers to meet price, quality, and critical path requirements.
• Build cohesive upholstery collections that complement the wider hirify.global Home furniture and accessory ranges.

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience in furniture or upholstery design.
• Strong knowledge of upholstery construction, frame manufacturing, ergonomic proportions, and fabric behaviour.
• Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills, especially Illustrator and Photoshop, for CADs and technical packs.
• Commercial understanding of aesthetics, form, texture, customer needs, and high-volume retail products.
• Strong time management, communication, organisation, and collaboration skills, including work with offshore suppliers.
• A digital portfolio showing direct design and CAD work is required; applications without a portfolio will not be considered.
