Banking Operations Lead (Finance/ERP): Managing global payment operations exceeding £4 billion annually while leading a UK and offshore team through a major ERP transformation with an accent on payment security, compliance, and operational resilience. Focus on designing payment processes, coordinating UAT and go-live activities, managing banking partners, and implementing automation across supplier, payroll, tax, and intercompany payments.
Location: Leicester, United Kingdom; office-based 5 days a week
Salary: Up to £55,000 per year plus a performance-based bonus

A large retail business operating global payment processes across its international operations.
What you will do
- Lead a UK team of three and offshore resources while maintaining accurate, compliant global payments.
- Own end-to-end payment operations covering supplier payments, payroll, tax disbursements, and intercompany transfers.
- Support the ERP transformation through requirements gathering, process design, UAT, cutover, go-live readiness, and post-launch stabilisation.
- Manage relationships with banking partners and payment service providers alongside Treasury, Accounts Payable, Payroll, IT, and transformation teams.
- Maintain internal controls and compliance with financial regulations, including AML and sanctions requirements.
- Introduce automation and process improvements to reduce risk and increase efficiency.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading payment operations in a complex, high-volume environment.
- Experience with enterprise ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle and understanding of their impact on payment processes.
- Experience leading UK-based and offshore teams and engaging stakeholders through organisational and technology change.
- Strong knowledge of global payment mechanisms, AML, sanctions, and treasury controls.
- Analytical problem-solving skills, resilience, and the ability to manage ambiguity and competing priorities.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
Nice to have
- Professional qualification such as ACT, CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent.
- Experience with payment automation tools such as RPA or payment factories.
- Direct experience delivering payment transformation, ERP implementation, system migration, or large-scale change programmes.
