Senior Electrical Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: San Francisco; working in the office five days a week is an essential part of the role

Salary: $175,000–$230,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop medium-voltage electrical systems for ground power generation by adapting aircraft engines.
• Translate product requirements into electrical specifications, one-line diagrams, schematics, and bills of materials.
• Own plant electrical architecture, including transformers, switchgear, cabling, protection, grounding, and grid interconnection.
• Perform and review load-flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc-flash, grounding, harmonics, and transient studies.
• Lead equipment validation, commissioning, troubleshooting, electrical safety, and product certification.
• Mentor engineers and act as the technical interface for customers, utilities, suppliers, and certification bodies.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD focused on power electronics.
• 5+ years of experience designing, building, testing, and shipping electrical power systems.
• Deep experience with 1–38 kV systems, including generators, transformers, switchgear, protective relays, and paralleling or grid-interconnect schemes.
• Strong power system analysis skills and proficiency with ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower.
• Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IEC, UL, and NFPA 70E, with experience taking products through certification.
• Hands-on field experience commissioning and troubleshooting medium-voltage equipment and generator control systems.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with inverters, rectifiers, excitation systems, SCADA, PLCs, and communication protocols.
