TL;DR
Director: Assistant Controller (Accounting and Finance): Leading enterprise accounting, financial close, consolidation, reporting, and cost accounting across a complex multi-entity manufacturing environment with an accent on U.S. GAAP, controls, data governance, and process modernization. Focus on automating close and ledger validation with AI/ML, improving inventory and LIFO accounting, and developing a high-performing accounting organization.

Location: Onsite in Bloomington, Minnesota, near St. Paul and Minneapolis. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $204,000–$250,000 annual base pay, with potential incentive compensation.

The Toro Company is a Minnesota-based manufacturer of equipment for residential, commercial, and professional landscape and environmental applications.

What you will do

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close, consolidation, and reporting processes under U.S. GAAP and applicable statutory requirements.
  • Oversee general accounting, intercompany accounting, fixed assets, inventory accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial data integrity.
  • Manage cost accounting, standard costs, inventory valuation, existence procedures, and LIFO entries in partnership with FP&A, Accounting, and External Reporting.
  • Partner with Finance Technology and IT on ERP, consolidation, reconciliation, reporting, automation, and finance transformation initiatives.
  • Review complex transactions, accounting conclusions, controls, audit requirements, SEC reporting inputs, and material risks.
  • Lead, coach, and develop an accounting organization consisting of two direct reports and approximately 20 professional staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; a master’s degree and CPA are preferred.
  • At least 12 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership in corporate accounting, financial reporting, or controllership.
  • Experience with financial close, consolidation, cross-functional process improvement, and complex public-company or multi-entity environments; manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, consolidation, financial reporting, accounting operations, SOX, internal controls, and audit requirements.
  • Experience with ERP, consolidation, reconciliation, and financial reporting systems; SAP and OneStream experience is preferred.
  • Must already be legally authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship or transfer of sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or CPA certification.
  • Experience with SAP, OneStream, lean or agile methodologies, AI/ML automation, and finance transformation.
