TL;DR
Post Doctoral Fellow, Stem Cell Lab (IPSC) (Stem Cell Biology/iPSC): Developing human iPSC-derived stem cell and organoid models to investigate metabolic regulation of stem cell fate, differentiation, and tissue maturation with an accent on genome editing, metabolic profiling, and multi-omics integration. Focus on designing reproducible organoid platforms, integrating transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic, imaging, and functional datasets, and advancing regenerative medicine and disease modeling research.

Location: Frederick, Maryland, USA; onsite at Ft Detrick

Salary: $52,900–$75,863 per year

Company

hirify.global, operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, conducts biomedical research in cancer, infectious diseases, drug development, clinical trials, nanotechnology, and organoid modeling.

What you will do

  • Design and independently conduct research on metabolic regulation of human stem cell fate, lineage specification, differentiation, and tissue maturation.
  • Develop, optimize, and characterize human iPSC reprogramming, maintenance, genome editing, directed differentiation, and organoid culture systems.
  • Implement mitochondrial functional assays, extracellular flux analysis, metabolomics, stable isotope tracing, and complementary molecular and cellular approaches.
  • Integrate transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic, imaging, and functional datasets to identify pathways regulating stem cell biology.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary investigators to develop reproducible, scalable, and physiologically relevant stem cell and organoid platforms.
  • Publish findings, present at scientific meetings, and contribute to grants, technical reports, manuscripts, and new experimental technologies.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university; foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, aseptic technique, and molecular and cellular biology techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and independently execute scientific research projects.
  • Evidence of scientific productivity through peer-reviewed publications.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills and ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Ability to work with or potentially be exposed to animals, animal materials, and infectious materials; medical clearance and immunizations are required where applicable.

Nice to have

  • Experience with human iPSC reprogramming, organoid culture, advanced 3D cell culture, CRISPR/Cas9, or mitochondrial biology.
  • Experience with Seahorse extracellular flux analysis, metabolomics, stable isotope tracing, or other metabolic phenotyping approaches.
  • Experience with single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, epigenomics, computational analysis using R or Python, advanced microscopy, flow cytometry, or high-content imaging.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience working in multidisciplinary research teams.

Culture & Benefits

  • Collaborative research environment involving the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, academic institutions, government, and industry partners.
  • Benefits include health and wellness programs, income protection, paid leave, and retirement benefits.
  • Work supports biomedical research with applications in cancer, infectious diseases, regenerative medicine, and disease modeling.
