Automation Technician (Biotech)

Location: Rensselaer, New York, United States; Work model: On-site; third shift, Sunday through Thursday, 12:00 AM–8:30 AM

Salary: $28.46–$44.42 per hour

What you will do

• Troubleshoot automation, computerized process control, and process monitoring systems supporting GMP manufacturing.
• Coordinate responses to equipment and system issues while minimizing operational disruption.
• Partner with Manufacturing, Maintenance, Facilities, and Engineering during equipment setup, changeovers, and maintenance.
• Perform automation testing and verification to confirm systems operate as intended.
• Support deviation investigations, corrective actions, and system improvements.
• Interpret technical documentation and communicate findings, recommendations, and status updates to cross-functional partners.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Engineering or a related technical field and 3+ years of experience supporting process control or data acquisition systems; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Experience troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, and computerized automation systems in a cGMP or industrial manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of Allen-Bradley and Siemens control systems.
• Understanding of ladder logic, electrical systems, instrumentation, and process controls.
• Ability to interpret software lifecycle documentation, engineering drawings, technical evaluations, and test protocols.
• Ability to follow gowning, hygiene, PPE, and safety requirements around manufacturing equipment, utilities, and energized systems.

Nice to have

• Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Experience with servers, networking fundamentals, and industrial data systems.
• Knowledge of bioprocess equipment, sanitary design principles, and data integrity requirements.
• Strong communication skills and proficiency with standard business software.
