TL;DR
Assistant Director for the Center for Math Learning and Innovative Teaching (Mathematics Education/AI): Establishing and leading a university mathematics learning center focused on improving gateway-course outcomes through faculty development, tutoring, AI-supported learning, and program assessment with an accent on evidence-based instruction and cross-campus collaboration. Focus on coordinating entry-level math courses, building K–12 and college-readiness partnerships, mentoring instructors, and piloting instructional technologies that improve student success.

Location: Corpus Christi, Texas, United States

Salary: Up to $5,416.67 per month, approximately $65,000 annually; commensurate with experience and qualifications.

What you will do

  • Develop the center’s vision, mission, annual goals, and operating plans.
  • Oversee daily operations and supervise center staff, tutors, and associated faculty.
  • Design and facilitate instructor bootcamps, faculty development workshops, and faculty learning communities.
  • Coordinate entry-level mathematics courses, including common materials, assessments, grading practices, tutoring, and AI-supported learning tools.
  • Build partnerships with local high schools and support summer bridge and college-readiness programs.
  • Teach assigned entry-level mathematics courses, mentor instructors, and pilot innovative instructional approaches and technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field.
  • Six years of experience in math education, academic support, or faculty development; a related master’s degree may substitute with four years of experience, or a doctorate with two years of experience.
  • Leadership and supervisory experience in academic or student-support settings.
  • Experience with curriculum development, tutoring services, and/or faculty training.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching pedagogy, educational technology, and program assessment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to student success and continuous improvement.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education.
  • Experience in higher education or high school administration.
  • Knowledge of gateway mathematics course challenges and best practices.
  • Experience collaborating across departments or schools.
