Principal Software Engineer, P1 & Engineering Strategy

Location: Remote in Canada; in-office workspace available in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Salary: CAD 175,950–219,938 per year.

What you will do

• Design and own the architecture of a real-time collaborative content platform, including data models, synchronization protocols, APIs, and client-side state management.
• Build backend services for collaborative editing, conflict resolution, content delivery, and distributed cloud infrastructure.
• Build frontend systems for visual real-time editing, page builders, component systems, and publishing workflows.
• Own the integration layer covering APIs, webhooks, and developer-facing extension models.
• Partner with product and design on interaction models, technical strategy, and phased delivery plans.
• Mentor engineers and engage with customers and partners to validate architectural decisions.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with ownership across the full product lifecycle.
• Production experience across backend APIs, data services, cloud infrastructure, interactive user interfaces, component systems, and browser performance.
• Experience with real-time or collaborative systems, event-driven architectures, or live data synchronization.
• Cloud-native experience with GCP, AWS, Cloudflare, or Azure, including containerization and modern deployment pipelines.
• Expertise in REST, GraphQL, and event-driven API design, plus frontend architecture, state management, and rendering performance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with visual or low-code editing interfaces and page builders.
• Familiarity with headless, hybrid, or traditional CMS architectures.
• Experience building SDKs, plugin APIs, CLI tooling, or other developer-facing extension systems.
• Open-source contributions in web platforms or developer tooling.
