Senior Scientist, Stem Cell Model Engineering (Contract) (iPSC)

What you will do

• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot differentiation of human iPSCs into tissue-relevant cell types.
• Establish reproducible and scalable differentiation workflows across experiments, iPSC lines, and increasing experimental scale.
• Define and execute quality-control and validation strategies covering cell identity, differentiation state, maturation, purity, and tissue-specific function.
• Identify and resolve biological and technical variability in differentiation efficiency, culture conditions, maturation, and phenotype retention.
• Develop complex human models, including co-cultures, multicellular systems, 3D cultures, organoids, and other tissue-relevant models.
• Contribute to CRISPR-edited and disease-relevant iPSC models and communicate model performance, limitations, risks, timelines, and readiness to multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

• PhD in a related discipline with at least 2 years of experience, MSc with at least 5 years, or BSc with at least 8 years.
• Hands-on expertise in human iPSC culture and differentiation, including protocol optimization and troubleshooting.
• Experience differentiating iPSCs into specialized human cell types and understanding quality control for pluripotency, genomic integrity, identity, purity, maturation, and functional phenotype.
• Experience developing reproducible and scalable cell-based workflows involving multiple cell lines, experimental conditions, screening, automation, or higher-throughput studies.
• Experience with complex human cell models such as co-cultures, multicellular systems, 3D cultures, organoids, assembloids, or tissue-like models.
• Work location: Burnaby, Canada.

Nice to have

• Postdoctoral or industry experience in stem cell biology, developmental biology, cell biology, bioengineering, molecular biology, or a related discipline.
• Experience across multiple tissue or cell lineages.
• Experience with CRISPR-based genome editing of iPSCs.
