TL;DR
IRAD Program Manager (Aerospace): Managing independent research and development programs that bring advanced space electronics technologies, products, and solutions from technical roadmaps into engineering, production, and new markets with an accent on program execution, funding compliance, and radiation testing. Focus on coordinating multidisciplinary teams, tracking budget and technology readiness, standardizing IRAD processes, and delivering complex programs to cost and schedule.

Location: Centennial, Colorado, USA. Onsite role; US citizenship required.

Salary: USD 130,000–180,000 yearly, depending on qualifications, plus eligibility for a year-end bonus.

What you will do

  • Manage IRAD execution efforts that advance technologies, products, and solutions for engineering, product development, program execution, and production.
  • Translate technical roadmaps, architectures, and concepts into efficient IRAD plans and lead complex programs from concept through delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Director, Portfolio Chief Engineer, Engineering Fellows, VP of Engineering, and cross-functional space electronics teams.
  • Execute projects to cost and schedule while maintaining statements of work and compliance with federal funding requirements.
  • Coordinate radiation testing to ensure hardware meets space-grade standards.
  • Report on budgets, execution metrics, Technology Readiness Levels, risks, milestones, and overall IRAD status.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in the aerospace industry with advanced space products.
  • 10+ years of experience in a small-to-mid-sized business environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, systems, or another engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical programs and manage multiple concurrent IRAD streams.
  • Knowledge of IRAD, foundational technology development, multidisciplinary systems engineering, and internal technology workflows.
  • Working knowledge of project management software such as Microsoft Project or Jira and standard office tools.

Nice to have

  • PMP certification or an equivalent project management credential.
