Technical Program Manager (Optics Manufacturing)

Location: On-site at least four days per week at hirify.global Center in Maplewood, Minnesota, or hirify.global Center in Austin, Texas. Travel may include up to 25% domestically and internationally. Relocation may be authorized.

Salary: $250,253–$305,864 annually, including base pay and variable incentive pay where eligible.

What you will do

• Lead technical and operational execution of new product introduction and sustaining programs from development through hyperscale production.
• Direct contract manufacturer preparation for pre-production builds and assess readiness of processes, tooling, and quality systems.
• Act as the technical escalation point for ferrule production issues, driving root cause analysis and permanent corrective actions.
• Lead cross-functional engineering teams across product engineering, supplier quality, test engineering, Design for Excellence, process engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain.
• Drive decisions on process design, yield improvement, manufacturability, equipment, and production technologies.
• Communicate technical risks and recommendations to engineering leadership and mentor engineers on rigorous problem-solving.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher, completed before starting.
• At least seven years of combined experience in product, process, manufacturing engineering, or technical program management in hardware or optics manufacturing.
• At least five years leading or directly supporting NPI programs from development through mass production.
• At least five years of hands-on experience with root cause analysis and corrective action methods such as 8D, DMAIC, or fishbone analysis.
• At least three years working directly with contract manufacturers or external manufacturing partners.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employment visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with fiber optic components, connectors, or ferrule manufacturing.
• Background in high-volume, hyperscale, semiconductor, optics, electronics, or medical device manufacturing.
• Knowledge of DFx, SPC, Cpk/Ppk, yield improvement, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, PLM, MES, or quality management systems.
• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, manufacturing engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading cross-functional technical teams in global, matrixed organizations.
