Staff Backend Software Engineer (AppSec)

Location: Palo Alto, California, United States; hybrid work model

Salary: $200,000–$250,000 per year, with potential additional incentives, restricted stock units, and/or bonuses.

hirify.global is building an application security platform that analyzes software dependencies and codebases to help teams identify, prioritize, and fix critical risks.

What you will do

• Build and maintain distributed backend services within a sophisticated monorepo architecture.
• Own core application security functionality covering source code workflows from IDE through deployment.
• Design and optimize API Gateway and API server services for scalability, reliability, and availability.
• Enhance the dynamic cloud scanning platform to support diverse build tools and toolchains.
• Develop internal tools used across engineering teams and apply observability best practices.
• Build AI-driven code security solutions and use automated code generation tools to accelerate secure software delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 8+ years of experience.
• Strong Golang experience focused on microservices and distributed architectures.
• Experience with scalable distributed systems, domain-driven design, load balancing, and horizontal and vertical scaling.
• Familiarity with Maven, pip, npm, and software build toolchains.
• Ability to communicate architectural trade-offs and guide teams toward effective solutions.
• Ability to work in a hybrid model based in Palo Alto, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with secure software design, certificate management, OAuth2/OIDC, and secure changes.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Lambda functions, or other cloud-native technologies.
• Knowledge of security, fraud prevention, and anomaly detection.
