Lead Senior Software Engineer (Platform Security)

Location: New York, United States

Base salary: $124,900–$228,900 USD per year, plus potential stock-based and variable compensation.

What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, and long-term evolution of large-scale security services from architecture through production operations.
• Own cross-cutting initiatives covering authentication, authorization, workload identity, secure access, secrets, and certificate management.
• Make architectural decisions balancing security, reliability, scalability, and developer experience.
• Build shared libraries, frameworks, and secure-by-default platforms for Kubernetes, cloud, and on-premise infrastructure.
• Drive testing, observability, operational readiness, incident response, and on-call practices for security-critical systems.
• Mentor engineers, guide technical direction, collaborate across teams, and explore AI-driven approaches to security posture management and risk detection.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in high-scale environments with infrastructure-as-code capabilities.
• Professional experience building and operating production systems with an object-oriented language such as C#, Java, C++, or a similar language.
• Proven experience designing and delivering distributed systems at scale.
• Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code, automated deployment pipelines, reliability, observability, and operational excellence.
• Experience leading technical design, influencing architecture across teams, and mentoring engineers.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience designing or operating identity and access management systems.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, cloud platforms, or hybrid infrastructure at scale.
• Background in security engineering or site reliability engineering.
• Interest in applying automation or AI to improve security posture and resilience.
