Subject Matter Expert (SME), Mechanical Systems (Data Centers)

What you will do

• Lead the technical strategy for heat rejection, pumping and distribution, air-moving equipment, and large-scale liquid cooling systems.
• Validate heat balance, pressure drop, airflow management, and heat exchanger performance using heat transfer, thermodynamic, and fluid dynamic principles.
• Review mechanical drawings, P&IDs, equipment submittals, vendor selections, and constructability risks.
• Support rack deployments, commissioning, factory witness testing, hydro-testing, flow balancing, pump verification, and thermal validation under load.
• Lead root-cause analysis and continuous improvement for mechanical and thermal incidents, including predictive maintenance and reliability programs.
• Develop SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, alarm strategies, maintenance protocols, critical spares plans, and technician training programs.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with mechanical systems in critical infrastructure, heavy industry, power generation, or data center environments.
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent hands-on field experience.
• Advanced knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, pumps, fans, industrial valves, heat exchangers, and heat rejection equipment.
• Experience reading and developing P&IDs, mechanical schematics, and equipment layouts.
• Working knowledge of rotating equipment reliability, PLC/BMS controls, alarm management, CMMS maintenance programs, and data-driven troubleshooting.
• Ability to work onsite in an active industrial and construction environment, including outdoor conditions, elevated work, and occasional after-hours response.

Nice to have

• Experience with hyperscale or enterprise data center mechanical plants and liquid cooling deployment.
• PE, CEM, CxA, or equivalent certification.
