TL;DR
Senior / Staff Software Engineer (AI): Building internal AI tooling, agents, integrations, and workflows that accelerate software, autonomy, research, and business teams with an accent on production AI systems, developer infrastructure, and responsible deployment. Focus on evaluating emerging models and agent frameworks, designing observability and guardrails, and translating cross-functional workflows into adopted technical solutions.
Location: Toronto, ON / San Francisco, CA / Remote US & Canada. Workplace: Hybrid, with work-from-home support.

What you will do
- Design, build, and ship internal AI tooling, agents, and workflows for autonomy code, simulation environments, ML training pipelines, research, and business functions.
- Integrate and extend AI coding assistants, agents, models, and tools for engineering and non-engineering teams.
- Evaluate emerging AI tools and agent frameworks through structured pilots and provide build-versus-buy recommendations.
- Partner with engineers, researchers, and business teams to prototype solutions and iterate based on usage.
- Build observability for AI tooling, tracking adoption, usage, cost, and quality.
- Implement responsible AI guardrails and drive adoption through documentation, enablement, office hours, and hands-on support.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience shipping tools, platforms, or products used by large user bases.
- Hands-on experience with AI coding tools and agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or Codex.
- Experience building and shipping AI-powered products, agents, or workflows, including prompt engineering, evaluations, tool use, and LLM production integrations.
- Strong proficiency in Python or another common programming language, with familiarity with modern build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and developer infrastructure.
- Strong product judgment, communication skills, autonomy, and ability to work in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
- Work must be based in the US or Canada, with a hybrid workplace option.
Nice to have
- Experience in developer productivity, platform engineering, AI tooling, ML, robotics, or autonomous systems infrastructure.
- Experience translating workflows for Finance, Commercial, Marketing, HR, Legal, or Operations into technical solutions.
- Experience operating AI systems in security- and IP-sensitive environments.
- Contributions to open-source AI tooling, agent frameworks, or developer tools.
