Lead Software Engineer, Packet Forwarding

What you will do

• Define packet forwarding features and solutions with customers and product management.
• Architect, design, and manage development of packet forwarding features in EOS.
• Develop and maintain features using C, C++, and Python, including data structures and algorithms for forwarding state.
• Build automated tests and test infrastructure, debug issues, and optimize code for scalability and performance.
• Analyze and resolve problems in customer networks and system tests.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor new and junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience, master’s degree with 4+ years, Ph.D. with 3+ years, or equivalent experience in computer science, electrical engineering, or computer engineering.
• Expert knowledge of C or C++ and Python.
• Knowledge of UNIX or Linux, packet forwarding chips and pipelines, and IP networking or distributed systems.
• Strong software engineering, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Demonstrated technical leadership, strong communication, and the ability to work independently in a small team.
