Information Security Engineer (Cloud) - Contract

Location: Toronto, Ontario; hybrid workplace. Offices are also available in Montreal, with remote work from home or hybrid arrangements as required by the role.

Salary: $85,000–$90,000 CAD per year

What you will do

• Build, configure, tune, and operate Microsoft 365 E5 security controls across Entra ID, Intune, Defender, and Purview.
• Develop KQL queries, Microsoft Sentinel detections, analytics rules, dashboards, workbooks, and automated response playbooks.
• Investigate alerts and incidents, analyze security telemetry, contain threats, remediate issues, and participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
• Manage vulnerability scanning, security assessments, cloud misconfigurations, excessive permissions, compliance gaps, and Cloud Security Posture Management.
• Automate security operations with PowerShell and/or Python, integrate security platforms, and improve alert and security-data quality.
• Assess third-party architectures and services and administer KnowBe4 phishing simulations and security awareness campaigns.

Requirements

• At least five years of hands-on experience in security engineering, cloud security, security operations, or a related technical role.
• Direct enterprise experience configuring and operating Microsoft 365 E5 security technologies.
• Experience with security monitoring, threat detection, incident investigation, vulnerability management, KQL, and Microsoft Sentinel detections.
• Experience securing AWS environments, including AWS IAM, Security Hub, GuardDuty, and AWS Config, as well as Azure security and Cloud Security Posture Management.
• Experience automating security tasks with PowerShell and/or Python.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Microsoft SC-200, SC-300, or SC-100 certification.
• CISSP certification.
• AWS Certified Security – Specialty certification.
