TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineering Technician, Tooling - 3rd Shift (Aerospace): Maintaining and improving production tooling for the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk military trainer aircraft with an accent on tooling compliance, performance testing, inventory control, and manufacturing support. Focus on troubleshooting tooling failures, designing new tooling solutions, analyzing test results, and supporting safe tool use during third-shift aerospace assembly.

Location: West Lafayette, Indiana, United States; onsite 3rd shift

Salary: Up to $29.00 per hour, plus a $2.00 per hour 3rd-shift premium

What you will do

  • Audit, maintain, and manage tooling inventory across assembly areas.
  • Support tooling studies, selection, application, and installation of new tooling capital projects.
  • Conduct tooling performance tests and prepare technical analysis and reporting.
  • Investigate tooling issues, identify failure modes, and implement countermeasures.
  • Assist assemblers with the safe and proper use of tools.
  • Ensure tooling compliance with aerospace standards and collaborate with tooling engineering and production teams.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a STEM discipline or at least two years of comparable work experience.
  • Experience with tooling selection and application, basic tooling design, troubleshooting, performance testing, and reporting.
  • Ability to operate machining and measurement equipment and understand standard GD&T.
  • Proficiency with computer reporting and Excel worksheets; CAD experience is beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, remain mobile, sit or stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, and work overtime or weekends when required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Nice to have

  • Two or more years of technical or aircraft assembly experience, including structural assembly or systems installation.
  • Understanding of aerospace quality regulations and standards.
  • CAD software experience.
