Mobile Engineering Manager - Sensing Discovery (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; East Coast time zone preferred, with flexible hours for collaboration across Europe and the U.S. Applicants residing in Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, Iowa, Mississippi, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, or Wisconsin are not considered.

Salary: $147,900–$203,000 annually, depending on U.S. location tier, skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions, plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead the Sensing Discovery Squad in exploring and shipping new sensing capabilities from prototype through validation and production-quality member experiences.
• Partner with Product, Science, and Hardware teams to validate signals, integrate prototypes, and prove algorithms and APIs for downstream products.
• Drive cross-functional development spanning software, algorithms, sensors, firmware, and hardware integration.
• Plan and scope discovery initiatives, owning execution against milestones and outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership on architecture, trade-offs, engineering decisions, and discovery practices.
• Mentor engineers and build a sustainable, high-performing team with strong cross-functional partnerships.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years leading or managing software engineers or multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience leading technical work from concept through prototype, validation, and productization.
• Understanding of machine learning concepts and practical algorithm-based product development.
• Experience with agentic coding and AI development workflows.
• Strong people leadership, communication, and project leadership skills.
• Ability to support complex, ambiguous work across software, science, hardware, and product stakeholders.

Nice to have

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years managing software engineers.
• Professional Android or iOS development experience.
• Experience with fitness, health, wellness, FDA-regulated, or other regulated health products.
• Experience working with raw sensor data, signal validation, sensor or firmware integration, and algorithm or science teams.
• Experience collaborating asynchronously across countries, time zones, and cultures.
