What you will do

• Manage ledger and sub-ledger accounting, including activities performed by a third-party accounting provider.
• Lead timely and accurate monthly closing activities and support annual 10-K and quarterly 10-Q financial reporting.
• Review regulatory filing data requests, implement regulatory orders, and support accounting procedures for new transactions and business lines.
• Manage internal and external audit requests and maintain relationships with auditors.
• Identify financial reporting and accounting risks, develop mitigating controls, and ensure compliance with internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
• Lead staff development, process improvements, business partnering, and special projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business with a concentration in Accounting, or a related field.
• At least five years of accounting experience for the Accounting Manager level or six years for the Accounting Senior Manager level.
• Experience leading and supervising employees or contractors.
• Strong written and verbal communication, planning, organization, time management, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word; ability to adapt, multitask, and solve issues logically.
• Ability to work in Columbus, Ohio in a sedentary work environment.

• CPA certification.
• Public accounting or client-side audit experience.
• Utility industry experience.
• PeopleSoft experience.
• Continuous improvement experience with adaptability, flexibility, creativity, and initiative.
