TL;DR
Program Coordinator II (Community Planning): Coordinating community planning, outreach, and resilience initiatives for small urban and rural Texas communities with an accent on program delivery, technical assistance, stakeholder engagement, and project administration. Focus on facilitating community workshops, developing planning and training materials, supporting 5–7 locations, and managing program records, budgets, and reporting.

Location: College Station, Texas; frequent travel to small urban and rural communities across Texas is required

Salary: $55,000–$65,000 annually; proposed minimum salary of $3,908.00 monthly. Employment is subject to the availability of grant and contract funds.

What you will do

  • Coordinate programs in 5–7 locations that help Texas communities identify economic, environmental, and cultural risks and develop short- and long-term plans.
  • Provide hands-on technical assistance, project coordination, and planning support to communities with limited planning capacity.
  • Facilitate community engagement workshops, including visioning, goal setting, needs assessments, and plan improvement activities.
  • Build relationships with community partners, task forces, faculty, resource managers, policymakers, and decision-makers.
  • Conduct in-person outreach, organize community events and presentations, and create publications, guidebooks, podcasts, and training materials.
  • Maintain records and databases, compile statistics, monitor budgets and expenditures, and support program evaluation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four years of related experience in community planning, communication, organization, or a related area.
  • Texas Class C driver license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
  • Experience with community meetings, public speaking, presentations, conflict resolution, office administration, or project management.
  • Experience with ArcGIS and Adobe Suite, plus advanced writing and copy-editing proficiency.
  • Frequent travel and in-person outreach across Texas are required.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in urban planning, communications, or a related discipline.
  • Spanish bilingual proficiency.
  • AICP, Certified Floodplain Manager, or GIS Professional certification.
  • Texas planning experience, supervisory experience, and knowledge of Texas planning issues.
