Process Engineer, Olefins (Chemical Manufacturing)

Salary: $104,900–$156,300 per year, commensurate with experience

INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA produces olefins and polyolefins, including butadiene, ethylene, polypropylene, and high-density polyethylene, at manufacturing sites in North America.

What you will do

• Provide process engineering support for safe, reliable, compliant, and optimized operation of the Olefins units.
• Monitor process performance, identify recurring deviations and operating risks, and perform mass and energy balances, hydraulic evaluations, process simulations, equipment checks, and relief or flare-support calculations.
• Support equipment troubleshooting and develop operating windows, Safe Operating Limits, technical bases, calculation records, and process engineering documentation.
• Participate in PHAs, HAZOPs, LOPAs, MOCs, risk assessments, incident investigations, audits, startups, shutdowns, turnarounds, and abnormal operating reviews.
• Provide technical support for environmental compliance, emissions and flaring reduction, process trials, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support capital and expense projects by defining process scope, technical bases, operating impacts, commissioning considerations, and verification requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Experience applying process engineering principles in chemical manufacturing or a comparable continuous-process environment.
• Knowledge of process safety management, environmental compliance, engineering calculations, process troubleshooting, and technical documentation.
• Ability to interpret process data, evaluate operating risks, develop technical recommendations, and document decisions clearly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with Operations, Production Engineering, Maintenance, SHE, Reliability, Projects, and Technical teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, complete assigned actions, challenge assumptions constructively, and maintain technical rigor.

Nice to have

• Experience in olefins, petrochemical, refining, polymers, utilities, or similar continuous manufacturing operations.
