TL;DR
Database & IT Systems Specialist (RF/Radar): Maintaining and improving DuckDB databases, Python data-ingestion pipelines, Streamlit applications, servers, storage, backups, and laboratory IT infrastructure with an accent on measurement-data integrity, automation, and cybersecurity. Focus on administering Linux and Windows systems, troubleshooting networking and computer-enabled laboratory equipment, and building reliable traceability between raw and processed RF/Radar measurement data.
Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States. Full-time role with travel as needed. U.S. citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government SECRET security clearance.

What you will do
- Manage and improve DuckDB databases, including schemas, data integrity, performance, backups, recovery, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain Python-based data-ingestion and processing pipelines for raw and calibrated measurement data.
- Support and enhance the Python/Streamlit application used to search, analyze, and retrieve measurement records.
- Administer Linux and Windows systems, servers, NAS and RAID storage, network access, backups, permissions, and capacity.
- Troubleshoot laboratory computers, computer-enabled equipment, engineering applications, VPN/RDP access, and network connectivity.
- Automate system administration and data-management tasks while improving metadata traceability, security, and technical documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in database administration, systems administration, software development, IT infrastructure, or a combination of these areas.
- Strong SQL and database-management knowledge, plus programming or scripting experience, preferably with Python.
- Experience administering Linux and/or Windows systems, servers, network storage, backups, and data recovery.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, IP addressing, VPN, remote access, and network troubleshooting.
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government SECRET security clearance are required.
Nice to have
- Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, SQLite, Dagster, Streamlit, Synology NAS, RAID, Git, or software configuration management.
- Familiarity with LabVIEW, Keysight VEE, MATLAB, SCPI, NI VISA, or laboratory equipment automation.
- Experience supporting scientific, engineering, RF, radar, laboratory, or test-and-evaluation environments.
- Experience with automated data ingestion, ETL/ELT, or large scientific datasets.
- Active U.S. Government SECRET security clearance.
