Senior Central Utility Plant Engineer

Location: Hybrid role based in Columbus, Ohio; must reside within 30 miles of Columbus. Travel up to 25%.

Compensation is determined by skills, experience, qualifications, and location; performance-based bonuses are available.

What you will do

• Develop detailed central plant utility system designs based on project scopes and client RFPs.
• Design and evaluate steam, condensate, boiler, feedwater, chilled water, condenser water, cooling tower, compressed air, and utility distribution systems.
• Perform thermal, mass balance, pressure loss, and equipment selection calculations.
• Coordinate with manufacturers and vendors to size control valves, regulators, instrumentation, and other equipment.
• Prepare design documents, reports, studies, specifications, code compliance research, and existing-facility surveys.
• Lead project teams, coordinate with other disciplines, support construction administration, perform quality control, and guide junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10–15 years of professional experience with central plant utility systems in industrial environments.
• Professional Engineer license in Ohio and ability to obtain licenses in other states through comity.
• Expertise in air compressors, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, steam and condensate systems, and utility distribution networks.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Revit and AutoCAD.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with Bentley AutoPipe, PipeFlo, AFT Arrow, or AFT Fathom.
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
