TL;DR
Infusion Medical Assistant (Oncology): Supporting physicians and clinicians with patient care, infusion-related procedures, clinical documentation, and appointment coordination in an oncology clinic with an accent on vital-sign collection, patient flow, and treatment preparation. Focus on assisting with examinations, maintaining accurate medical records, coordinating tests and authorizations, and traveling between regional sites as needed.

Location: In person in Suffolk, Virginia, United States; travel between regional sites is required as needed.

Salary: $16.88–$34.65 per hour

What you will do

  • Assist physicians and clinicians with examinations, procedures, and patient care in an oncology clinic.
  • Support efficient patient flow by escorting patients between examination, physician, and treatment rooms.
  • Record vital signs, height, weight, allergies, medication changes, and other patient data before visits.
  • Obtain required medical records before treatments and procedures.
  • Schedule tests, procedures, hospital admissions, and follow-up appointments as needed.
  • Arrange pre-authorizations and pre-certifications and complete administrative duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience, preferably in a multi-physician practice.
  • Current knowledge of the medical assisting profession and healthcare industry.
  • Willingness to work in person in Suffolk, Virginia and travel between regional sites as needed.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, handle and lift patients, and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.

Nice to have

  • Graduation certificate from an accredited medical assistant program.
  • CMA certification.
