Senior Software Engineer (React/TypeScript)

Location: Beavercreek, Ohio, United States

Basic compensation: $200,000–$275,000 annually for Ohio

What you will do

• Design and implement common operating picture tools, workflows, and platform capabilities.
• Build responsive and accessible interfaces with React, TypeScript, Next.js, and Ant Design.
• Develop interactive 2D and 3D geospatial experiences using CesiumJS and operational terrain, imagery, satellite, air, ground, and vector data.
• Develop Node.js backend APIs and real-time services using Fastify, Express, REST, and server-sent events.
• Design data flows, synchronization, caching, retry, batching, idempotency, and offline/online reconciliation for real-time and historical geospatial data.
• Improve performance, observability, reliability, security, testing, deployment, and maintainability across the platform.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Seven or more years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong professional experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, React, and Node.js backend services.
• Experience with relational or document-oriented databases and production-quality, tested software.
• Ability to work across frontend, backend, data, deployment, architecture, API design, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Nice to have

• Experience with CesiumJS, Leaflet, GIS, geospatial databases, or spatial indexing.
• Experience with Electron, IndexedDB, Dexie, SQLite, Redis, offline-first systems, or client-side synchronization.
• Experience with real-time streaming protocols such as SSE, WebSockets, UDP, or TCP.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, production release automation, or high-volume visualization performance optimization.
• Experience in military, aviation, emergency management, public safety, or other operational data systems, as well as mentoring engineers.
