Director, Fleet

Location: Saint Louis, MO 63146, United States; in-office work required at least three days per week

What you will do

• Develop and execute a multi-year fleet strategy aligned with operational, service, and financial objectives.
• Oversee vehicle acquisition, lifecycle management, maintenance, utilization, compliance, and replacement planning for light-, medium-, and heavy-duty fleets.
• Standardize fleet policies, controls, procedures, and governance across decentralized locations.
• Manage national and regional vendors, negotiate contracts, and monitor service-level performance.
• Build dashboards, KPIs, and reporting tools while managing operating and capital budgets.
• Lead technology modernization, cross-functional change initiatives, and team development in partnership with Operations, EHS, Finance, IT, HR, and field leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field.
• 10+ years of fleet or operations leadership experience in transportation, logistics, or operations.
• Experience leading process improvement and change initiatives across multi-location environments.
• Strong knowledge of DOT, safety, and compliance requirements.
• Experience with fleet maintenance, lifecycle management, replacement planning, fleet systems, telematics, and reporting tools.
• Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder influence, KPI analysis, and data-driven decision-making skills.

Nice to have

• Industry experience in distribution, construction, utilities, or industrial services.
• Experience supporting dispersed branch networks and managing owned, leased, and rental fleet models.
• Experience implementing fleet management systems, telematics, or automation.
• Financial expertise in budgeting, capital planning, and lifecycle costing.
