Financial Consulting Manager - Real Estate Accounting

Location: Chicago, United States

Salary: $95,400–$192,000 per year, plus discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Manage accounting and finance functions for multiple real estate clients in a shared-services environment, acting in a Controller capacity.
• Oversee month-end close, financial reporting, variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, billing, collections, and engagement economics.
• Lead client process design and improvement across chart of accounts, procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, record-to-report, and close activities.
• Manage, coach, and develop client services representatives, associates, senior associates, and supervisors.
• Analyze financial information and provide actionable insights and decision support to client management.
• Lead client assessments, implementations, onboarding, proposals, service agreements, and statements of work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and CPA certification or active progress toward CPA required.
• Experience with property-level accounting, real estate finance, property managers, and client variance analysis.
• Expertise with real estate and automated accounting systems, including Yardi, MRI, BlackLine, FloQast, or Basis.
• Knowledge of GAAP, NCREIF, fair market value, management accounting, operational finance, FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
• Experience with real estate development, construction accounting, job costing, and draw package submissions.
• Strong leadership, coaching, communication, organization, time management, and Excel skills.

• Experience in public accounting, consulting, or another professional services environment.
• Experience with emerging technology, AI platforms, automation solutions, and cloud-based accounting tools.
