Generation Control System Engineer 2 (DCS)

Location: Hybrid position based in Redlands, California; employees are required to work and reside in California. The role includes up to 60% travel and field work across the SCE service territory, with occasional work at alternate locations.

What you will do

• Maintain, program, configure, patch, and integrate distributed control systems, including PLC-based equipment.
• Resolve control-system hardware, software, and power-plant operation incidents.
• Design, plan, test, and deploy control-system upgrades and new technology projects.
• Perform equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, event assessments, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Prepare engineering reports, calculations, technical documentation, design plans, and electrical one-line diagrams.
• Partner with operators, technicians, plant engineering, and external collaborators while supporting training and mentoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or in a scientific, technical, or mathematics field.
• At least two years of engineering experience in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments.
• Valid Class C driver’s license.
• Experience with power plant operations, instrumentation, control-system maintenance, or related engineering disciplines.
• Ability to support 24/7 operations, including off-hours work when needed, and travel up to 60% in the service territory.
• Must work and reside in California; the position is hybrid and requires reporting to an SCE facility on scheduled days.

Nice to have

• Experience with simple-cycle or combined-cycle gas plants and Ovation, Mark VIe, Woodward, or PLC systems.
• Knowledge of Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems, Remote Intelligent Gateways, Water SCADA, and other control platforms.
• Expertise in control, electrical, power-system, or power-plant engineering.
