Government Affairs Manager (State Government Affairs): Developing and implementing state-level advocacy, lobbying, and policy strategies while supporting federal advocacy efforts, with an accent on legislative analysis, regulatory processes, and stakeholder relationships. Focus on evaluating legislation, briefing executives, influencing public policy, and coordinating government affairs initiatives across internal teams and external partners.

Location: Washington, District of Columbia, United States; work in the Washington, DC office

Salary: $120,550–$160,000 annually, with additional bonus and/or equity opportunities for US candidates.

What you will do

  • Develop, maintain, and implement advocacy strategies and policy positions for priority state and regional issues.
  • Coordinate with business units, corporate functions, and regional organizations to align policy priorities and advocacy plans.
  • Analyze legislation, regulations, political developments, and government initiatives affecting business interests.
  • Prepare executive briefings, recommendations, external communications, and responses to legislative and regulatory matters.
  • Build and manage relationships with elected officials, government agencies, opinion leaders, trade associations, and other stakeholders.
  • Support outside consultants and resources involved in legislative, regulatory, messaging, and outreach activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • At least 6 years of state-level experience, including legislative or agency staff work, advocacy, lobbying, or related experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and exceptional listening skills.
  • Deep knowledge of government policy, legislation, regulatory processes, and political dynamics.
  • Ability to work in the Washington, DC office in the United States.
