TL;DR
Materials and Process Engineering Intern (Quantum Computing): Developing and evaluating materials and manufacturing processes for quantum computers with an accent on material properties, process parameters, and production support. Focus on troubleshooting process issues, performing root cause analysis, reviewing material and process failure modes, and improving manufacturing operations.

Location: On-site in Broomfield, Colorado, United States. Candidates must be U.S. Persons, including U.S. citizens, permanent residents, green card holders, and individuals granted asylum or refugee status. Due to national security requirements, People's Republic of China and Russian nationals must also be U.S. citizens.

Salary: $27–$39 per hour. Candidates located outside Colorado may receive a $500 housing stipend per bi-weekly paycheck.

What you will do

  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, material management, and technicians to select materials and processes based on mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing process issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Document material specifications, process parameters, and test results.
  • Evaluate materials for production approval and support bill-of-material creation and change management.
  • Review designs for material and process failure modes.
  • Research and improve processes, operations, and support systems used to manufacture quantum computers.

Requirements

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor's degree and graduating in or after December 2027.
  • Must meet U.S. Person requirements and applicable national security restrictions.
  • Basic understanding of material properties and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Validated academic excellence with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Willingness to perform hands-on work and work with limited supervision.

Nice to have

  • Degree studies in materials science, chemical engineering, or mechanical engineering.
  • Hardware manufacturing experience through projects, internships, clubs, or hobbies.
  • CAD experience and familiarity with laboratory equipment and testing methods such as electrical scopes, DMM, and CMM.
  • Experience with systems engineering, physics, lasers and optics, electrical engineering, or related fields.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
