Principal Engineer, Fluid & Thermal Systems (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in Seattle, Washington or Dallas, Texas, United States

Salary: $266,000–$400,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular employees

What you will do

• Lead the design and analysis of fluid and thermal systems for aircraft and ground platforms.
• Develop innovative thermal solutions using first-principles engineering and advanced system simulations.
• Research technologies and integrate fluid and thermal solutions into complex system architectures.
• Plan and execute testing, sensor integration, data acquisition, post-processing, and requirements verification.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, manage suppliers, and source commercial components and systems.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership from concept through production.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience designing fluid or thermal systems.
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Deep knowledge of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and system-level thermal management.
• Experience with MATLAB Simscape, Amesim, Excel, MATLAB, Python, 3D CAD tools such as Siemens NX, and fluid and thermal system testing.
• Ability to independently own projects, conduct trade studies, manage suppliers, and deliver results in fast-paced environments.
• Ability to obtain an S//SAR-level security clearance is desired.

Nice to have

• Aircraft fluid and thermal system design, analysis, manufacturing, and testing experience.
• Knowledge of how fluid and thermal systems affect aircraft performance.
• Experience in startup or R&D environments.
• Knowledge of environmental standards and certification processes for aerospace or defense systems.
