Senior Thermal Engineer (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Own thermal engineering methodology across missile systems and define thermal architectures and material selection strategies.
• Perform thermal design and analysis for unmanned air vehicles across conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases.
• Develop transient mission analyses and thermal models using first-principles methods, MATLAB, and Python.
• Plan, execute, and analyze specialized thermal ground tests and flight tests, including instrumentation and post-flight data analysis.
• Develop integrated thermal solutions with aerodynamics, structures, electrical, propulsion, systems, manufacturing, and test engineering.
• Present thermal status in internal and customer reviews and prepare specifications, test procedures, and technical reports.

Requirements

• BS or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Applied Physics.
• 5+ years of aerospace thermal engineering experience on rocket, spacecraft, aircraft, or missile programs.
• Strong understanding of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and high-temperature environments.
• Experience with electronic unit thermal analysis, thermal instrumentation, data acquisition, and formal technical documentation.
• Strong programming skills in MATLAB, Python, or a similar language, plus CAD experience with SolidWorks or Siemens NX.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance and satisfy applicable U.S. Government eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• MS or higher focused on heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
• Experience with material ablation modeling, material degradation, and surface phenomena in extreme thermal environments.
• Flight-test instrumentation and post-flight analysis experience.
• Experience with specialized thermal ground-test facilities, Thermal Desktop, or SINDA.
• Experience manufacturing and assembling thermal systems and an active U.S. security clearance.
