Manager, Production & Technical Ops (Live Production)

Location: Required on-site position primarily based in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, with work from hirify.global’s New York production facilities and periodic travel to other locations as needed. The schedule may include days, evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, and short-notice coverage.

Salary: USD 120,000–135,000 yearly, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead day-to-day studio and control room operations for live productions.
• Plan staffing, workflows, resources, and technical readiness for daily programming, breaking news, special events, and high-profile productions.
• Manage staff and freelance production professionals, coordinate crew assignments, and adjust coverage as production needs change.
• Act as an operational decision-maker during broadcasts and resolve issues with Editorial, Engineering, Broadcast Operations, NOC/MOC, Facilities, and production teams.
• Coach and develop Production Operations personnel, support onboarding, and identify training needs.
• Improve staffing models, procedures, documentation, training, workflows, and adoption of new production technologies.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in live television studio, control room, or production operations, including leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of studio and control room workflows, technical production roles, and live television operations.
• Sound judgment and the ability to make timely decisions in high-pressure, rapidly changing situations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills across editorial, production, technical, and operational teams.
• Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule covering days, evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, and short-notice assignments.
• Willingness to work primarily on-site in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, with work from New York production facilities and periodic travel.

Nice to have

• Experience managing staff and freelance production personnel, represented labor, NABET, or IATSE requirements.
• Experience supporting live news, sports, entertainment, or special-event programming.
• Knowledge of production switchers, audio, graphics, playback, cameras, communications, routing, and studio/control room technologies.
• Familiarity with IP-based production, automation, cloud production, workflow transformation, staffing, and resource planning.
