Engineering Manager (Gamification)

Location: Remote within the United States; candidates based in Atlanta are preferred. Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Salary: $200,000–$215,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead the Gamification engineering team building features and experiences that strengthen member engagement and retention.
• Partner with product, design, marketing, data, and engineering leaders to define deliverables, milestones, and priorities.
• Identify technical investments needed for system health and long-term success.
• Plan, sequence, and deliver engineering work while managing tradeoffs, risks, and measurable outcomes.
• Hire, coach, and develop engineers through one-on-ones, goal setting, delegation, and conflict resolution.
• Drive incident response, post-mortems, durable fixes, and continuous improvement in delivery.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience managing teams of five or more engineers and testers.
• Strong understanding of distributed backend systems and user-facing features, ideally in gamification platforms or products.
• Experience building and shipping mission-critical B2C systems where data correctness and rollout strategy are essential.
• Strong communication skills and experience collaborating across engineering and cross-functional teams.
• Technical fluency for evaluating engineering tradeoffs and leading technical discussions.
• U.S. work authorization is required; employment visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with feature gates, experimentation, and A/B testing platforms.
• Professional experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Ruby, Rails, Roda, or Golang with Echo.
• Experience building reusable frameworks and decision models.
