Senior Software Engineer (Go)

Location: Remote within the United States; preference for candidates based in Atlanta.

Salary: $175,000–$185,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design and build performant, scalable Go-based microservices for contest and entry creation.
• Own complex technical features from product requirements through deployment and monitoring.
• Improve distributed-system reliability by diagnosing bottlenecks, optimizing database queries, and resolving production incidents.
• Define architectural direction and engineering practices for code quality, testing, observability, and deployment.
• Mentor Software Engineers I, II, and III through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, QA, and other engineering teams.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience with significant experience building production Go services.
• Expert-level Go proficiency and experience delivering complex, multi-component features.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, or event-driven architectures.
• Strong PostgreSQL or relational database skills, including schema design and query optimization.
• Experience with REST, gRPC, or GraphQL APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and observability.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Ruby on Rails experience and event-driven systems using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar tools.
• Terraform, Kubernetes operators, or ArgoCD experience.
• Experience with high-traffic real-time systems, sports betting, daily fantasy sports, or related industries.
• Contributions to the Go open-source ecosystem or experience using AI-assisted development tools.
